The Boutwell Challenge!

The rain cleared, the skys were blue, and my Nikon was ready for some photo excellence this afternoon. I'm really glad that I dragged my lazy ass out of the house because I got some cool pics and had a blast talking to myself. Anyway, as I said before it's only 2.2 miles from my driveway to my day job. Day job you say? Yeah, you all need to make me so busy that I don't have to have one of those anymore! Here are some things that I pass on a daily basis and some others that just happened to be there as I passed.

I didn't even have to hop in the car for this. I shred a lot on my board...as you can see it's been around the block. I'm fully confident that the wheels don't even turn.



I started driving as I would in the morning and came across these incredible birthday balloons. Either some little kid is crying because their mom threw these out the window of the apartment complex they live or it really wasn't their birthday. Regardless, these were helium which makes them awesome for cutting loose and watching them fly away. Actually, now that I mock them. Thinking back I didn't do that either after I took these...





Then I headed into the local laundry mat. Thank god we have our own washer and dryer. I asked a young girl if I could take a picture of her clothes spinning. She gave me a thumbs up, I said cool, she continued swearing like a sailor at whoever was on the other end of her cell phone, and then we both went on our merry ways.



One thing I see a lot of on my way to work is construction. Thank God I don't drive far. This was on the front of one of the construction vehicles. I'm not sure what it does, but it looks sweet.



I then walked through the torn up road across some clay. Not such a hot idea after it rains. We don't have hardcore gnarly clay in MI so I didn't know it would do this to my flip flops.



It was worth the 20 minutes it took me to scrape the thick muddy red concoction off the soles because I grabbed two pretty rad shots...one of which I love!

Nice.



AWESOME!



I'm yet to go through the sumo pictures. They sound really fun don't they? The events were less than entertaining in all honesty which is probably why I'm less then enthused about looking at them. Maybe I won't.

I had another shake tonight. It was greatness, but my belly will start hanging over my pants if I go at it at this pace. What do you think about the new logo combo?

Rained out!

Amanda had to work tonight, so I had planned on heading out for my little challenge. I should have known it wasn't going to work out though. Every time she works it rains :( Pray for sun in OK tomorrow!

Getting there...

Here are the remaining photos from The Wise Guys and Graham Colton. I still have some shots from sumo wrestling at work (seriously) and a couple pictures from Kenzie's prom to sort through. I'm really hoping to take Chenin's challenge tomorrow and get completely caught up on ALL of my photos that need editing. Photo of the week!

Amanda and I drove to Dallas for Mother's day on Sunday to spend the day with my mom, brother, and sister in-law. We had an absolute blast! Happy Mother's day to all the mothers out there! I love you mom and wouldn't be any where with out you! We got in late Sunday night and had an all out tiring weekend so I'm slacking a little bit on the photos. I PROMISE I will get through these tomorrow, so until then here is your photo of the week! I was totally serious about how freakin' awesome The Wise Guys were. If you're ever in the OKC area and want to see the coolest group of people ever rock out to some of the greatest songs to date...this is definitely the band for you. So until then...again (yeah I know.)



Also, Chenin Boutwell has challenged us to take a look at the things we overlook on a daily basis. Like everything you pass on your way to work. I'm not sure that I'll get to this tomorrow, but I accept her challenge and plan on documenting (hopefully, I have a 2 mile drive)some cool things for you. So be on the look out for that. Alright, I'm off to
Braum's to get a humongo chocolate shake and then head back to bed. Mmmmm shake...

The Wise Guys...

Tonight Amanda and I met up with Julie at the Jazz Lab to watch her husband play with his band "The Wise Guys." I'm shooting her sons senior portraits on the 19th and am looking forward to it even more so now that I know how rad she is. The Wise Guys flat out rocked playing 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's music. Not only did we meet some totally amazing people (including the guy that's going to marry us,) but Graham Colton showed up to watch his dad play in the band! It's definitely a small world. Amanda and I got to hang out with Graham for a few and I took some shots of him when he hopped up on stage to sing his hit single "Best Days!" If you don't have his CD yet you definitely need to go check it out! We leave early in the morning for Dallas to spend mother's day with my mom who flew in from MI so I'll get some more shots up tomorrow night. This will have to hold you over till then.

Chelsea

Alright alright...I'm finally getting some work done here. My Pistons won game two of the second round tonight and I'm fighting my urge to play GTA IV and continue sorting through these kick ass photos from yesterday. Chelsea is a super trooper for toughing out the cold mud and Amanda was an allstar as usual helping me with the lighting while getting mugged by swarms of mosquitos. She managed to fire of a few frames her self...one of which I love! We started out downtown Norman to try out a couple of new spots we found the other day. We'll definitely be heading down there for some more sessions!

I've been a really bad blogger this past week! I didn't do a whole lot of shooting and probably played way too much Grand Theft Auto IV, so to make it up to you I grabbed my gear and took some pictures this weekend! I've still got a ton to go through, but we'll start with the Photo of the Week. Amanda's sister Chelsea saw the senior pictures I shot in the mud and liked the idea so I flooded the back yard and had her lay in ice cold muddy hose water!
